We are back and pumping!

I've been away with no internet for 2 months and a TON of things have occurred in that time frame! Babies were born, birthdays were celebrated, milestones have been accomplished and of course more love has filled our hearts!

If you don't know yet Alejandro (aka- Mr.A) arrived into our crazy world Sunday, February 8th at 3:14am! He filled our lives with love, happiness and we are just over the moon with our addition.

On Saturday the 7th I had taken Gaby with me to my uncle auto shop to get the car fixed before being induced on Monday night! I was planning on doing my hair, shaving my legs and just be a little presentable for the arrival of Alejandro. Well as we were about to leave Gaby had spilled orange juice all over the back seat of the car and I had to get my hospital gown and clean the OJ. Well as I was getting out of the car I thought my water had broken and I freaked out! I wasn't going to tell my uncle b/c that's just awkward and not a lot of "water" came out. I jumped into the car and to Kendall we were going! I texted Mario and told him we were on the way to pick him up and go straight to the hospital. No time to stop by the house or anything since our bags were in the trunk. (the nesting in me) I started to get contractions but nothing super major, like in the movies. I got a couple that were manageable and would stop for a couple of minutes.

We arrived at Memorial Miramar within 20 minutes and was wheeled to the maternity wing. I kept telling them I thought my water broke but the contractions had stopped- of course ;) They did a test to see if what came out was discharge or atomic fluid. 30 minutes later we found out it was a false alarm but the doctor wanted me to walk for an hour. I felt like a moron walking in a gown up and down the hallways, the things we do for our kids! Within our hour walk I got maybe 5 contractions, again manageable. Up to our room we went and I was dilating. When I got there I was 1 cm by the end of our walk I was 2. So something was going on. I laid on the bed and like magic the contractions started coming back and started to get a bit stronger. The nurse asked if I wanted the epidural now or to wait. Of course I told her I'll wait but she will know when I wanted the epidural ;) Time passed and I think we saw Lara Croft Tomb Raider about 2 times!

While waiting for the doctors orders my sisters in-law arrived along with my mom. A couple of hours later I was rechecked and no change. After hours of not eating or drinking anything the nurse had to start the IV to hydrate me. The doctor finally gave the order to start the pitocin to speed up the process. HOLLY COW- that pitocin really kicks in man! The contractions started to get stronger and hurt like a mother of a heffer! After about 45 minutes on the pitocin I had to get the epidural. Of course I had to wait another hour to put in the order and have the anesthesiologist come and work her magic!

After what seemed like days the anesthesiologist finally arrive! She was my new best friend, until she had to poke me 3 times to find the spot for the epidural! At this point all I wanted was for her to stop calling me "sweeeettttyyyyy", but I survived the painful contractions, the 3 pokings and the sweety!

Drugs are good....the epidural was my new best friend after the Anesthesiologist left. Everyone was my friend actually. A couple of hours passed and the nursed checked me and while checking me my water broke- I didn't feel a thing! This is when the party started! About this time it's close to 2:30am! The nurse called the Doc to inform him about my progress, he wanted a call when I was 10cm dilated. At around 3am I was 9 1/2 cm. The nurse called the doctor one more time and I swear to GOD- by 3:05 that man was there full of spirit and too much energy for the time. The room transformed into a labor room in about 2 minutes! I did about 2 "practice" pushes to see if I felt anything....I didn't. I was still numb from the epidural. The doctor noticed the baby's heart beat dropping every time I had a contraction and he wasn't too worried since it wasn't a drastic drop. He did warn me Alejandro's umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck- but not to worry. Somehow I mentally prepared myself if we needed to do an emergency C-section. At this point I didn't care how Alejandro would come out- as long as he was safe and sound.

I literally pushed 3 times and Mr. Alejandro Gabriel was born at 3:14am on February 8th. It was the best feeling in the world. We all cried and I was lying there in my bed just thinking "wow, I'm a MOM of TWO!" The feeling is one you can't put into words but only say "It was the best experience ever".

At exactly an hour later Mr. A was given his first official bath. He wasn't too pleased to be awaken to get a bath, but he sure looked handsome after it!

I was a bit sad Gaby couldn't go to the hospital all 3 days, she was home sick and we didn't want her to get the baby sick. I called her everyday and Mario spent the 3 days going back and forth between the hospital and his moms house. She saw pictures of him and was super excited to meet him the day we went home. We arrived as a family of 3 1/2 and left as a family of 4!
and we wait...
and after 3 pushes Alejandro Gabriel was born at 3:14AM

We are being induced...

It seems Mr. A doesn't want to come out and play with anyone. Mario and I went to our final doctors appointment yesterday and nothing has changed since I went to the Labor and Delivery floor in the hospital 2 weeks ago. I'm still closed, but showing little signs of going into labor on my own. But for some reason I think Alejandro is keeping us on our toes and will arrive BEFORE our inducing on Monday night.

The doctor said Mr. A weighs around 6 pounds 10 oz but can more or a little less. I think he weighs more than 6 pounds b/c my belly is a lot bigger than when I was pregnant with Gaby. At birth Gaby was 7lbs 4 oz. We shall see how big Mr A is going to be.

I will be induced Monday night, I have to be at the Hospital at 8pm. Hopefully by Tuesday afternoon we will be hearing the cries of our little man! I can't wait- this weekend is going to be a roller coaster of emotions. So far I'm nervous, anxious, happy, over joyed, just all sorts of emotions!

I am a little curious as to how Gaby is going to react when she finally sees her little brother OUT of my belly. She is too cute, saying she is going to buy him tons of cloths, change his diaper and feed him. We will see how long the changing of diapers will last! ;) She is going to be a great big sister, I can't wait to be a mom of 2 and share all brand new memories with our growing family.

I will be posting pictures of Alejandro once we are home and semi settled!

36 weeks and 4 days pregant!

Well it's been quite a journey having our second child and boy I can say I'm done baking. I know it's the final stretch and I'm almost done, but lord have mercy on my ribs, my hips, my butt....my whole body!

I freaked myself out today when I realized the end of January is NEXT week! Where has the time gone? Again, this pregnancy has flown by for ME and has been a snail for others! :)

This past weekend we met up with my cousin and aunt to take some maternity pictures at Matheson Hammock Park. My cousin Emi loves to take pictures and I thought it would be a great idea to let her mind run wild with us. She sure got fabulous shots considering she has never done this before and she was great. Emi took 399 pictures of the day and holly cow I thought I took a lot of pictures but she took the cake!

We can't wait to have her take pictures once Alejandro arrives and we can take 5,000 pictures of Gaby and him then! We can't wait to meet our little man and complete our family.

Here I leave you with my hand full of favorite from Sundays session....ENJOY!

Mom and the big sister to be!

Yes we have big smiles and hope Alejandro loves taking pictures too....NOT like his dad!

Nesting for Mr. A....

I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has flown by. It just seems like yesterday (Father's Day) we found out we were adding a new person to our gang, and here we are with a little over a month away until our little man gets here.

This month flew by with the holidays and the shower it seems that time isn't our friend, but it's okay! This weekend we finally bought the bedding for the crib and bought a new crib for Mr. A. My sister originally handed me down my nephew telling me it was "brand new".... note to self "brand new" to my family means not fully broken. Well Mario and I started to crib the "new crib" only to find out IT WAS BROKEN!!!!!!! I was very very upset- but I was on a mission to built a crib Sunday night and a crib we built!

We headed to Walmart and got a brand new crib that is very very sturdy, fabulous and the best part under budget! Since we were under budget we also got Gaby her new "big girl" booster chair. Which she loves and it has 2 cup and toy holders, one for each side! (side note it broke my nail this morning trying to take the dam thing out!)

On Monday morning (around 5:30am)- Gaby woke up to use OUR bathroom and when I turned on the light she saw the crib her words "OH MY GOODNESS MOM IT'S BEAUTIFUL, YOU AND PAPI DID A GREAT JOB!....I'm going to buy a lot a lot a lot of clothes and toys for Alejandro.....it's beautiful!" along with a great big bear hug! What else can we ask for- we got the approval from his big sister!

My next appointment is for January 15th and it will mark exactly 1 month for my due date! Aye- I pee my pants every time I think about it. I have to keep reminding myself- everything will be fine, just relax and get into the "zone".

We leave you with some pictures of our little man's bed and semi closet!

Christmas 2008

I love love love the holidays!! The gatherings, the laughter, watching the kids faces light up, and of course the FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This year was the first time my mom actually joined Mario's family for Noche Buena (Christmas Eve). Mario's mom made ham, potato salad, crab salad, coconut rice, and cheesecake for dessert! My mom decided to bring Carne asada (bbq meat), salad and Cuban bread. You can't go wrong with Meat and Soft Cuban bread!!!!

Mario had to work his regular shift that day and joined us around 10:30ish which is perfect timing for a second round of food ;)

We hope everyone had a great Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa

The kids had a blast opening gifts and of course I had my handy camera on point!

Our Baby Shower!

What a great event this was! We threw our little man a shower for everyone to enjoy and boy did we have fun! We had great company, fabulous food, funny games, and tons of memories for our little man.

Our theme was "Oh Boy" with blue's, green's and ivory. Simple and perfect :)

Saturday morning my trooper (Gaby) and I woke up super early and attacked all the stops we had for the day. The florist, food, prep the flowers, BJ's, Bakery, Party City, Payless, and finally head back home for some baking and a cooking lesson!

The night before the shower I couldn't sleep thinking of all the things that had to be done that morning. Of course Mario thought we had "PLENTY" of time to decorate and get ready....UM NOT!

The day was a little gray- which scared me but thank god the day turned out just great! The guests started to arrive and I was still a mess ;) I finished just in time to get to my moms house plaster make- up on- get Gaby ready and look fabulous for our family and friends.

I was so touched by all the gifts we received for our little man and loved every moment of our shower...

I leave you with some pictures!
